In our second Spotlight Interview, we talk with Marshall Stratton who will be performing with UCB Sunday Night at The Orpheum. Marshall has been doing improv since 2008 and grew up watching the UCB sketch show on Comedy Central like so many of us. Here's the rest:
Do you find the suggestions offered are different based on the part of the country you are in?
Do you view your work as social commentary, parody, or farce? Or is it just fun entertainment?
How much value do you put in "playing to the audience" over "playing for yourselves"?
When was the point in your life when you realized you wanted to do improv? Do you think you'll do it for the rest of your life? Why or why not?
What's the one thing you wish you could tell yourself when you first started doing improv?
What's the most memorable experience you've had on the road that wasn't on stage?
What questions about improv are you tired of being asked? Why so?
What's something about yourself that people wouldn't guess after watching you play?
Do you notice a difference in improv styles featured in different parts of the country and world?
It was a great conversation with Marshall and we're looking forward to the show! Stay tuned for more Spotlights coming up! If you'd like to see Mike perform with UCB tourco Sunday at 8p at The Orpheum in Ybor City, get your tickets now by clicking here!
